Frequently Asked Questions

How often does my Hyundai need an oil change?

Each Hyundai vehicle has its own schedule, so check your owner’s manual for oil change intervals. On average, an oil and filter change should be done every 6,000 km. For drivers who make short trips with lots of stops, more frequent oil changes are recommended.

Do Hyundai cars have high maintenance?

No, Hyundai cars aren’t high maintenance. Endurance Warranty notes that Hyundai owners make less than average visits to service centres. The average yearly maintenance and repair costs are lower, too.

What's the difference between a full Hyundai service and a major service?

Instead of the words full and major, Hyundai services are given numbers. An oil and filter change, check of fluid levels, tires, lights, and battery is Service 1. The next level includes everything in Service 1, and a tire rotation and ventilation of the vacuum crankcase. Service 3 includes everything in 1 and 2, plus servicing of the brakes and fuel injector.

Do I have to get my car serviced by Hyundai to keep the warranty?

With Hyundai-trained technicians, Northstar Hyundai is the best place to get your car serviced. We know every inch of each Hyundai model. Everything covered by warranty must be cared for at a licensed Hyundai dealership.  Anything not covered by warranty or recalls can be done by you or at another service location.

Can a late oil change void my warranty?

Yes, a late oil change can void your warranty. A late or missed service could also make your warranty inactive. You could damage your vehicle if maintenance is late.

Is a Hyundai service plan worth it?

Hyundai’s Extended Protection offers outstanding coverage when the factory warranty ends. All service work will be done by Hyundai-trained technicians. The Extended Protection is active across Canada and the continental U.S. More details at Hyundai Canada.

How long will a full service take?

Expect to have your car at our Service Centre for about two hours when you book a Service 2. How long your car is with us will depend on what is replaced or repaired. A Hyundai oil and filter change is about 30 minutes.

How long will a major service take?

A Hyundai Service 3 is like a major service. It takes about three hours for this level of servicing. The time your car is at our Service Centre will depend on the work that needs to be done.
